Hubris
Like many men
he claimed gifts from the gods:
strong-in-the-arm;
evil-in-ale.
An unstoppable force
he was part-heroic, semi-divine
a natural catastrophe,
which struck the house on fridays
teaching mother
that she offended the deities
with her contentment,
their happy home.
