Serendipity

Serendipity smiled
she danced, my daughter,
moving with a grace
in her father's eyes.

Serendipity moved
within a moment of emotion
with a naturalness of knowing
her body, her own.

Now I know I chanced rejection
moving her away from her parent's side.
Standing her where she could explore
or be lost on the carpet forever more.

Serendipity cried,
but danced all the same,
sure of her direction
away from me.
