Look at them! Books!
Asleep on their shelves.
Right now they’re quiet. But they can talk for themselves.
Shall we get closer! Shall we hear what they say!
Shall we ask them to wake, to come out to play.
For all books are
special; if we give them a chance.
They’ll bring us a smile, they will teach us to dance.
For books are a treasure; all magic and spells,
With flashes of lightning and funny old smells.
Books are a pleasure, with adventures and fun.
Books are a holiday, the sea and the sun.
Books are a journey; a trip into space
Where we float to the ceiling with an alien race.
Books let us grow, to the size of a house,
And books let us speak with the squeak of a mouse.
Books make us friends, they get us to laugh.
Books let us greet a purple giraffe.
So let’s look
at them! Books!
They are starting to wake.
Let’s love them!
Let’s read them!
Then life will be great!
