The
aim of the session is to introduce the new writing opportunities created
by the World Wide Web. The emphasis will be on writing and exploration,
and everything introduced will be approached in an artistic and
non-technical manner. There will be a number of hands-on exercises
that give a real flavour of the excitement of writing with computers.
There will be plenty of opportunities for discussion.
The
issues addressed will include:
- What
can the Web do for me (as a writer)?
- Getting
work out there through On-line Magazines
- What
is a Blogger?
- Literary
Hypertext
- What
is so Flash about Flash Poetry?
- Can
I make money with the World Wide Web?
In
the course of all this, the workshop will introduce some of the
extraordinary works of electronic literature available over the
web and the aesthetic controversies that have grown-up around
the tools, the critical terms and the future of this exciting
area of writing practice.
